Our story

A promise born from painful experience

The moment that changed everything: During the COVID pandemic, our Director of Nursing witnessed too many patients die without dignity in ICU settings. She saw families separated from loved ones, patients suffering without adequate comfort care, and the heartbreak of deaths that didn’t honor the person’s life or values. This experience didn’t just break her heart—it ignited a mission to ensure that no one else under her care would ever have to suffer while dying.
From vision to reality: What started as a conversation about “someday” starting a hospice became urgent when the business opportunity presented itself. Our Director of Nursing approached Shijo George with her vision of dignified end-of-life care. When the timing aligned, Shijo partnered with Joseph John to transform “someday” into today—and Texas Hospice Providers was born.
Our founding promise: Every life deserves to be honored with dignity, comfort, and love, especially in its final chapter. For us, this isn’t just a mission – it’s a sacred commitment to every family we walk alongside and/or serve.

Our mission and what drives us

To provide unparalleled care that goes beyond medical treatment. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families with warmth, understanding, and compassion. Born from witnessing unnecessary suffering, we exist to ensure that life’s final chapter is written with dignity, not desperation.
Unlike larger corporate hospices, we:
  • Maintain consistent care team members who become familiar faces your family trusts
  • Keep our leadership team directly involved in patient care decisions, not hidden behind corporate layers
  • Tailor every care plan to the patient’s unique values and goals, not standardized protocols
  • Partner closely with families and local providers for truly meaningful support that feels personal

Our leadership philosophy

Every leader, every patient: At THP, leadership isn’t distant or corporate. Every member of our leadership team is hands-on and collaborative in patient care decisions. When you call THP, you’re talking to people who know your case personally and care about your family’s journey. We don’t manage from boardrooms—we manage from living rooms, holding hands and ensuring every detail of your care reflects the love your family deserves.
Personal connection: We take time to know our families and patients personally so that they know the face, warmth, and touch of every person who makes decisions regarding their care. When the people who make policies also make house calls, you know your voice is truly heard.
